Computer Programming
I am a computer programmer by trade. That means I am a huge
nerd. I wrote a
bouncing
balls screensaver which you may find interesting and am working on
my first commercial game. Computer programming is awesome because
I get to be creative and make little worlds and creatures, kind of like
God (except on a much, much smaller scale). I code mainly in C++,
the nerd's-nerd programming language. Here I will share
some of my discoveries and creations and struggles in programming with
you. Enjoy!
My first game was written with a friend from Norway named Haakon whom I
never met in person. Our game was a Tetris clone called Spacetris
(original, huh!).
Evidence of my nerdiness:
- I have spent many hours doing Role-playing games (RPG),
including one where I was a cyberpunk hacker.
- I have played Magic: the Gathering
CCG since just after the Antiquities
expansion.
- I am not a good dancer though at me and Katie's wedding, we
danced quite well due to much practice and Heavenly aid.
- I like Star Wars, and at one point in time was even a Master Droid Engineer
in the Star Wars Galaxies game.
- I have read the Lord
of the Rings many, many times, and have a personalized license
plate based off of it.
- I own and still play an 8-bit Nintendo as well as a Super
Nintendo and a Sega Genesis.
- I know the code to get to Mike Tyson in Punchout by heart
and can beat Mike Tyson
- Okay not everytime but sometimes.
- I own 3 computers and have run Linux before.
- I also program on Linux and can debug with gdb.
- I help my friends get spyware and viruses off their
computers.
- I have a website that I program with Mozilla's Composer.
- I know who Bjarne
Stroustrup is and how to pronounce
his name.
Hopefully in light of this evidence I am nerdy enough for you.
