I read on Bill Cork’s blog that St. Louis University, a Jesuit-led Catholic school, is hosting a Gay, Lesbian, etc. conference of Seventh-Day Adventists this July. Below is my letter to the president and vice-president of St. Louis University. If you feel this is wrong, please charitably exhort them to rethink their position on hosting the conference. You can reach them via email: Fr. Biondi, Fr. Brennan.
Father Biondi and Father Brennan,

I recently read that a group of Seventh-Day Adventists who deny the truth of the Catholic Church’s belief on homosexuality are hosting a conference promoting their group and beliefs on the St. Louis University campus in July (http://www.sdakinship.org/kampmeeting2005.htm). I searched the St. Louis website and did not find any information about this conference, even in the upcoming events section (http://www.slu.edu/pr/events.html). Is St. Louis hosting this conference?

If so, I humbly encourage you to withdraw St. Louis University from hosting it. We as Catholics believe that there is only freedom in the truth, and that the Catholic Church is the servant of the truth which God has revealed on earth. Hosting a group that rejects this truth implies that St. Louis University, the Jesuit religious order, and even the Catholic Church endorses such erroneous beliefs. It does not help the people who suffer from disordered homosexual desires but instead gives approval to a sinful lifestyle that displeases God and jeopardizes their souls. We as Catholic human beings are not here to condemn such people, but rather to share the truth of God’s love with them and the freedom from slavery to sin which Jesus Christ the Son offers us.

Thank you for your consideration on this matter. I pray God will graciously guide you and be with you!

Sincerely in Christ,
Devin Rose
