I mentioned before that I played soccer growing up my entire life. I usually played midfielder and didn’t score too many goals (typically a few a season).
One thing that I never mastered was shooting the ball hard and in a corner of the goal. When I shoot the ball, I just kick it as hard as I can toward the goal and hope that it goes in a place where the goalie can’t stop it!
I don’t know if other soccer players with more skill than me can shoot the ball hard and place it just where they want it–I suspect that many can. Nonetheless, one particular soccer game I played in I shot the ball and it went “upper 90″ into the goal. “Upper 90″ refers to the ball going into the upper corner of the goal (right at the 90 degree angle that the goal posts form). Typically if you shoot a hard shot and it goes at this place, the goalie can’t stop it.
The other cool thing was that one of my teammates caught the shot on his camera (albeit blurry):
After I scored this goal (and usually after scoring a goal), I sub out of the game immediately to “go out on a high note” for the time-being! And I thank God for the gift of getting to score a goal every now and then.

That’s an awesome goal! I remember when I played waterpolo, that’s what we TRY to do (sadly, it’s not easy to get it to go the way we want!) in seemingly endless hours of training - high, hard and fast.
Many of life’s lessons and virtues can be learnt through participation in sports. I thank God for giving us these creative and more “tangible” ways to learn His way!

Nice shot!
