Â
The G and I have been training for the Freescale marathon for the past month and a half. We’re supposed to do a 12-mile run today.
Â
The G has had a problem with one of his feet that has been making it hard to do the long runs, and I have continued having issues with my left hip flexor muscle when the distance gets over 6 or 7 miles.
Â
So today I offered up Mass for (among more important things) the grace to be able to finish the 12 miles today, if God so willed it.
Â
During Mass, Father Thai opened up his homily with a description of a movie that I quickly recognized as “Hero”, which I watched months ago with the G. I didn’t know how Father Thai was going to tie it in to the readings about St. John the Baptist preparing the way for the Lord and for the coming Kingdom, but he managed to do so.
Â
I tried imagining St. John eating locusts and wondered if he ate them raw or cooked them, and whether he ate their heads or not. I also tried to picture him putting his hand inside a tree and pulling out wild honey while trying to avoid the angry bees! I hope to ask him about that one day in Heaven, please God…
