I was happy to receive this response from the Jesuit Provincial to my email about the disgusting ad in America magazine:

Thank you for your recent email concerning the advertisement in a recent edition of America. I too was shocked at the sight of it and asked the editor for an explanation. He assured me that it was an oversight and that he has now put procedures in place whereby all advertisements will be first screened and then approved by an appropriate staff member. He will also be printing an apology in the next two issues of the magazine.

I hope that these steps will guarantee to their readers that the Jesuits of America magazine are as committed to the defense of the honor of Our Blessed Lady as our founder, St. Ignatius, was in his own time.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful Christmas, I remain,

Joyfully in the Lord,
Gerald J. Chojnacki, S.J.
Provincial

I take him at his word and hope that this was an oversight that will never happen again. May our Lord bless him and all his Jesuit brothers!
