Well, my mom won’t be thrilled, but I went to the chiropractor for the first time ever today.
Â
I told him my symptoms (my upper neck hurts), and he asked me several questions before doing some dexterity tests. After that, he did some x-rays which he said showed some misalignment, but which he said he could probably correct with some number of weeks’ worth of visits.
Â
Then he did some “adjusting” of my neck, which involved me sitting in the chair and him twisting my neck violently sharply up and to the side. My neck let out such a bone-cracking crunch sound that I half-way expected paralysis to ensue, but it did not, and I didn’t really feel any better or any worse after it was over (which I counted as a success).
Â
After two more of these maneuvers, he said I was done for the day, and I needed to come back next week for more adjusting. I guess the theory is that he will twist my neck like this for a few months and that will correct my neck problems. I remain a bit skeptical, but I am willing to give it a shot, so we shall see!
