Spring break begins today at 3:35p. Praise God! My students are ancy, exhausted and euphoric on the edge of a week free of school; they remind me of little children who are so tired that they’re hyper. :)

Second hour, the class finished their assignment early and earned free time. Beloved free time! And, during their free time, they totally exhibited the complementarity described by Pope John Paul II. It was uncanny how clearly they behaved!

My male students immediately began an arm-wrestling tournament; the other guys gathered around and cheered the wrestlers on. Meanwhile, the ladies stood by to watch, oohing and aahing, as well as whispering secret thoughts to their friends. The gentlemen, the “initiators of the gift”, manifested their natural inclination to competition, to physical activity and mastery, while the ladies, more inclined to teamwork and harmony, complimented the guys’ abilities with sweet laughter and shared conversation with their friends.

I know this is simplistic, and, certainly, there were other factors in play today, too. Still, it was delightful to see Our Lord’s creation, “male and female He created them,” so clearly evident. YKC!
