We can’t wait to see them, too! They are in development and in the mail currently, so we hope that in the next few weeks, we will get to see them.
Tonight we are taking the two eldest daughters of the couple who did our marriage preparation to the opera at the University of Texas. It should be a lot of fun. I have never seen an opera, though I did see “Phantom of the Opera” one time, which Katie informed me is not an opera (how confusing).
Last night, Katie and I volunteered at the phone bank for our diocese’s Capital Campaign: It is a very well-done campaign to raise long-term funds for our diocese’s and parish’s needs. I called about 20 people with no one pledging before finally calling an 83-year old parishioner who said she would pledge $25 per month for the next 5 years!
“I may not live that long though,” she warned me.
On her last call of the night, Katie got her first pledge, too, and it put our total for the night at over $200,000!
Katie also talked with one man, Patrick, whom you should pray for. He was very embittered against our parish and the Church and decided to unload his diatribe on Katie. She handled it very graciously, but I wanted to call him back and give him a piece of my mind for yelling at my wife.
Fortunately, we talked about it, and we realized how sick he is in his mind that he has been carrying these unfounded grievances against God’s Church and our parish for so long and that he needs our prayers more than me telling him where to get off.
