Katie and I were on our way to dinner this evening when we heard Drew Mariani’s show on Relevant Radio, and the intro music played…

I asked Katie if she knew the song, and she said, “Yeah, it’s Ozzy Ozbourne’s ‘The Road to Nowhere’”.  After I got over my shock that Katie was familiar with a song by Ozzy Ozbourne, I responded, “No, I think it is Spacehog’s ‘In the Meantime’”.

Katie stuck by her guess, so we made a wager.  If I won, she would have to pick me up from work (instead of me walking home) 2 times when she really didn’t feel like doing so at some point in the future.

If she won, she could tell me on 2 different occasions to quit whatever I was doing and work on another task of her choosing (take out the trash, fix the bathroom, etc.).

I felt almost sure I was right, since I had once had Spacehog’s album and listened to “In the Meantime” a lot, but Katie had also heard her brothers singing this Ozzy Ozbourne song frequently.

We got on iTunes and played the 30 second clips.  The Ozzy song sounded close to what was played on Drew Mariani, so we then played the Spacehog clip, and without a doubt, Spacehog won.

Katie humbly accepted defeat, and so now I am privileged to have her come and pick me up from work–something she very generously does quite often anyway–but at a time when she perhaps especially is inconvenienced.  As always, we will work out the details in mutual marital charity!
