Well, we started with: “Bless the Lord! 600 people signed up for an hour of adoration!”
Then as the weight hit me of trying to call each person and fill the 168-hour weekly schedule by March 5th, it became “Oh no! 600 people signed up for an hour of adoration. Lord, help us!”
Last night, we had our 3rd call bank, and our dedicated adoration team spent 2 hours of their evening calling 250 people, most of them were the second time we had called them.
And, thanks be to God, we confirmed 115 new adorers for their hours, filling about 50 previously empty hour slots, resulting in only 12 slots that do not have at least one person in them.
It was a miraculous evening and put us over the “hump”, giving us now over 300 adorers confirmed on the schedule.
Also, Randy, one of our division leaders, astounded me with his generosity by giving his own cell phone number out to all the people (over 100) that we called and left messages with, so that they can call him back and he will fill them in on the schedule.
I told Katie that it seems easier to fight a lion with my bare hands like Samson did than have to coordinate Perpetual Adoration! (Though I admit that I am biased because when Samson returned to the lion’s carcass after tearing it apart, it was full of bees and honey!)
