It seems like we always hear bad news which remind us of the evil of which humans are capable. So, I’m writing to share some good news.
Yesterday, I was feeling pretty crummy. I lost the baby on Saturday, and it was quite traumatic; I lost a lot of blood and had to be ambulanced to the hospital for a medical intervention. The blood loss has made me even more airheady and clumsy than normal, and yesterday I was sitting at home, feeling terribly alone and incapacitated.
And, then the phone rang. It was my friend, Maria Kalapati, asking if she could stop by and bring us a meal for the evening. Then, it rang again; it was my friend, Jenny Andrews, asking if she could visit for a while and bring us flowers, which were a joint gift from her, Shana, and Amy. Then, it rang again. Devin’s mother called inviting us to dinner at her place; I thanked her and asked if we could reschedule for this evening–never want to pass up a good meal!
I’m not kidding–these calls came within ten minutes of each other.
Jenny’s and Maria’s visits really cheered me up, and, then, yesterday evening, Devin and I returned home from Mass at St. Williams to find a note on our door from our neighbor, Tiffany, who had bought us a complete dinner from Mangia Pizza–pizza, salad, and…yeah, cheesecake. She stopped by a few minutes later and delivered our second evening meal.
I’m just floored at the goodness of others. It’s possible to feel quite alone with our loss, without my mother and sisters here, but the Lord is providing other mothers and sisters. Thank you, everybody. You’ve made Devin and me feel so loved and supported.
