Delighted to have been guided to your site tonight! Great to find a Catholic Christian witness such as yours; thank you and God bless you! As a very ordinary fellow, too often caught between the secular world dominating some media, and lacking enough sound knowledge of my own Catholic heritage, a site such as this, is a great help, re-starting point, and guide. Thank you Devin! Your witness will help other men, searching for truth.

I still remember the outrage I felt on learning of Sts. Chrysostom, Basil, Gregory and Maximus, having heard only of Wesley, Spurgeon, Edwards and the like in my youth. We need New Testament saints, just as the believers in the first century needed Old Testament saints. We always need good examples to follow: it's part of being human.

Throwing out the deuterocanon proves to be a mistake in this regard, as the maccabean martyrs were doubtlessly part of the saints found in the book of Hebrews, clear examples of the recent past. Throwing out church history likewise causes significant problems for protestants, because without saints in living memory, all saints are to be found only in texts, making them academic and dead, and not a part of the life of the church.

I have also received our Lord through the liberating teachings of JPII and the lives of the saints. I am looking forward to learning more because my knowledge is poor in the richness of our faith. It is good for me to read how it has inspired another man's journey. Thank you and God bless you.
