What I Did Today
Posted by Katie under Catholic Life
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training. All day. Fabulous. Lovely. I felt like I was at a retreat all day and am amazed by the beauty and wisdom of the Montessori method applied to catechesis. This is going to change me, and I’m glad of it.

Oooh, I really thought that sounded neat and was sorry to miss it. Maybe next time . . .

Katie,
Praise the Lord! I just completed Level I training this June, and received such GRACE from the week. Enter in and regard it as a retreat, a pligramage into the spiritual realm of the youngest members of the Body of Christ. It WILL change you, in innumerable and blessed ways. I will pray for you and your fellow catechists, that your eyes will be more fully opened to the TRUTH and BEAUTY of our faith….
Love, Danielle

The Montessori method is so wonderful for young children! Pick up a copy of her book “Mass Explained.” It is beautiful.
By the way, any significant occurrences this past regarding my adoration intention? I ask because I had a rather, shall we say, interesting holy hour last week!

Thanks, girls. Danielle, you are right about the retreat-ishness of the training. Yesterday, I was in need of a lovely retreat and felt drenched in wonder all day. Today, I began to get a little ancy because I can only take reflective silence for so long.
I certainly know, however, that I need this training probably more than my future children will because I am the one who will need to grow more in patience and surrender of control and the “parable method.” And I, like you, am falling in love with this charism. CGS almost feels like a lay movement, one with a very different charism from Regnum Christi and one that is very attractive to me. This is a profound gift to the Church.
Amy, you are so cute. Nope, Devin and I have no news to share, other than the fact that we have filled out an application to become adoptive parents through the foster system and are currently undergoing a background check–then pre-service classes–then a homestudy, and so forth. As Devin remarked tonight, we are now in the midst of the flow chart. Keep praying for us!
