Katie and I have been harboring evacuaees from Hurricane Ike since Friday–amazingly, the suburban towns south of Houston where they are from already have power restored!

Ike didn’t bring a drop of rain to our part of Austin, swinging too far east, but it did bring some gusts of wind for a few hours.

Yesterday our home was filled with 5 adults, 2 babies, and 3 dogs; our baby room was gently broken in by my cousin’s toddler son, and it seems to be well-suited for little ones, so that is promising!
