Genevieve Kineke has a great insight on Catholic Exchange today–it’s because Sara Palin has no contempt for men. She respects her husband and praises him publicly. She supports John McCain and does not belittle his masculinity. And, NOW and other groups can’t stand that. Did you know that NOW even changed their mission statement recently, ostensibly because Palin fit their original mission statement yet they still were unable to support her?
Check it all out in Genevieve’s article.

interestingly, i read an article about how one of hillary clinton’s top fund raisers, a woman, is now backing mccain because of sarah palin. and another group about how a majority of white, working class women also are putting their support behind their campaign. i think mccain knew this would happen and made a smart move choosing her.
Time to take back a true notion of “feminism” – what rightfully belongs to every woman, regardless of creed or ideology. Liberal feminists would be wise to be open-minded about Palin. Check out this entertaining article from “heterodox feminist” Camille Paglia: http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2008/09/10/palin/
Hello, Mrs. Q! Lovely to hear from you. That is interesting, and I’m glad to hear it. It’s good to know that some feminists are looking past the abortion issue to see Palin for what an amazing candidate she is.
Many people, especially in the media, are not giving her a chance. The Washington Post is currently running a very mean political cartoon mocking Sara’s Christianity, despite over 300 protests from readers. And, when I was in line in the grocery store week before last, I had to laugh at the blatant bias; the People magazine featured the glowing Obama’s on the cover and proclaimed that the Obama’s were a normal family who read Harry Potter to the their children. Right next to it was the US Weekly, which displayed a photo of Palin holding baby Trig, with the headline “Baby Scandal–Did Palin fake her pregnancy? Is Trig really hers?” The kid gloves that they used for Hillary, because she is a woman whose agenda they support, are all off now for Sara Palin.
Ooh, Janice, I just read Camille’s article. I like this girl.
She just might make me eat my words about the feminist movement’s rejection of Sara Palin.
I am no feminist, but I am a woman who cant stand Sara Palin. She makes all women look bad. She could at least learn to speak correctly. Everytime she opens her mouth she makes me cringe :/
Nancy, I approved your comment but if you decide to comment in the future, please be specific in your criticisms so that they provide something that can be discussed charitably rather than broad attacks or ad hominem arguments.
Thanks!
