Good Meat

We enjoyed our first meal with grass-fed beef on Monday.  Our little 1/4 of a cow has been sitting in our newly purchased deep-freezer since last Friday, and the hamburger made lovely meatloaf.  It was very moist and had an unexpected buttery flavor; I’ve become so used to beef and chicken tasting like nothing that it was surprising to actually have beef that tasted like beef.  The same is true of the chickens we buy from Farmer Miguel, who has a weekly market in our neighborhood.

Devin and I eagerly await the day when we can raise and butcher our own beef and pork and chicken.  One of our particular dreams is apple-pecan finished pork, which sounds pretty delightful.

It’s great to hear that your grass fed beef is tasty. Please let us know how the steaks are.
Oh, and the apple-pecan finished pork is rather tasty!

I’d like to try feeding one only “bought” feed and the others fruit and nuts and see how the taste differs. As of now, we only have the good stuff.

Welcome to the world of all-natural beef! It is quite a treat!

We love it also! Can’t wait to see some recipes!! I just love that it’s local beef too!

I just happened on your site through Conversion Diary and the more closely I looked at your wife, the more she looks just like a Catherine B. that I spent 2 months with at Madonna House. If she is Catherine B, then please tell her that this is Elena Culshaw (now Afelskie) and she should drop me a line. If she is not the person in question, then, please, just ignore this!
