The Heirloom Seeds Are Sprouting

We felt like proud parents last night when we checked on our seeds and saw tiny roots pushing their way through the coffee filter.  Tomatoes and peppers–we can just imagine how they are going to taste.  Devin transplated them to their germinating pots this morning and turned on the grow light for the first time.  Now, we are just going to water and wait for those little plants to grow leaves, after which we will transplant them to our garden.  I’ve been reading much lately from “The Four-Season Harvest” and am becoming better versed in soil fertility, so I am eager to have an even more fruitful garden this year after we add compost and, perhaps, greensand and peat.
