My Hemline

I glanced often at my hemline this morning.  Not because it was too short but because it was embellished with this dose of pure feminine loveliness.

Being a fan of all things Jane Austen, I have long felt it highly unfair that I can’t wear petticoats with four inches of lace at the hem.  So, when dear Mrs. Beguiles introduced me to the notion of the modern feminine petticoat, I was thrilled.  I never got around to ordering a petticoat of my own, however, until I recently began to notice that my growing belly is pushing the hemlines of my cute maternity dresses above my knees.  I am the kind of girl who likes dresses that cover my knees; they just feel so much more comfortable, and I don’t live in fear of bending over and embarrassing myself.

So, yesterday, my sweet lace-ness arrived in the mail, and I promptly wore it today, paired with a red polk-dot dress and red frilly belt.  Did I mention the red frilly belt?  Um, yes, I absolutely love being a girl.  Hurray for the fact that we are women and can wear sequins and pearls and lace petticoats.
