Beekeeping Swarms

I’m eyeing one of these for this spring in hopes of catching a swarm. Hopefully I won’t lure a hive of Africanized [killer] bees though!

Or a nuc box with lure in it….
We’re hoping we don’t lose all of our hives this winter (in CT). Several were weak going into the season after our poorest honey flow in years.

    Hi Maureen,

How many hives do you have?

The year before last we had a terrible honey flow when other parts of the country had great ones, but this past year we had a good one when others had a poor one.

2 years ago we had 11 hives but we were down to 5 going into this winter. Partly due to normal difficulties with mites etc and probably moreso due to neglect due to moving into a new home and between adoption & birth we went from 0- 3 babies in 38 months (which sounds tame compared to you and Katie). Hopefully most make it through so we can rebuild.
