Must Have New Music: David Thies’ “Fall in Love”

Singer-songwriter (and friend) David Thies just released his newest album, Fall in Love, and it is fantastic.

I was blessed to meet David a few years back. He was newcomer to town from Louisiana and “needed to make some friends.” Well, the second part of that wasn’t really true. He had lots of friends already and once in Austin made a ton more. I was glad to be one of them.

Along the way I found out he was a musician, and not just a “sing some praise and worship songs for the youth group”-kind but rather a talented artist. He’s a Catholic guy, and his faith certainly informs his music, but his songs have a broad appeal because they hit on universal themes of human life.

The album is available on iTunes. My favorite songs thus far are “Love Changes Everything”, “Love Waits”, and “Our Love Survives.” Here’s more on the new album from David himself:

“The inspiration for the album Fall in Love comes from this quote from Fr. Pedro Arrupe:”

David Thies: “The album has a theme of love flowing through all of the songs but it is not limited to romantic love. The album touches on love in all its forms and mysteries. Loving life, loving your vocation, loving yourself. Traveling and playing music is what I love. What are you in love with? Its OK if you can not answer that question immediately. The one thing I try to do is to be open to the opportunity to fall in love. Remember, life is a Journey and it is full of surprises. No one expects love or can predict what it is going to do in our lives. Love is powerful and makes us do wonderful things, crazy things and beautiful things.
