Fathers for Good: Adoption and Fertility

Fathers for Good

My second article is up on Fathers for Good.

I share our experience with fertility problems, how we decided to begin the adoption process through the state’s foster care system, and the reservations that I had about adopting children with “problems.”

I think it will be helpful to husbands who are reluctant to consider adoption, since it explains how, by God’s grace, I overcame my fear of welcoming children into our home in this extra-ordinary way.

So check it out and share it with your friends on facebook!

You both are amazing, you know? It’s rather humbling to be inspired by my “younger sis” and her husband. Aren’t I to be the older and wiser? I’ve said before and I will again, that because I know and love Katie I love you, Devin, for loving her. I can’t wait to meet you.

And why all the sentimentality in this comment? Because you write so well, and my dad (RIP) was a 4th degree Knight and he would love your articles. This part really struck me, and brought tears to my eyes:

I remembered that God had adopted me and done so at a time when I was depressed and being consumed by fears, a young man without hope in the world. He had taken on my problems, ones that he hadn’t caused, and welcomed me like the prodigal son.

Thanks for sharing your journey(s) – in the many ways that you both do.

    love ya -

Really beautiful, Devin. That is an article that should be printed and saved for each of your children to have when they get older.

Thank you both for your very kind words about the article. Trish, I am honored that you think your father would have liked the article; may God rest his soul in Heaven.
